RIYADH — The Saudi Red Crescent Authority (SRCA) has started installing Automated External Defibrillators (AED) in the mosques of Riyadh region. The first of the devices has been installed in the Mamur Mosque in Qurtubah district in Riyadh, which comes within several initiatives launched by the authority. SRCA said that this initiative aims in preserving the lives of people by providing AED devices in the public areas and activating the role of the first responder. Scientific studies have proven that the most important factors affecting the return of the pulse in cases of cardiac arrest and breathing are Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and the use of AED devices within a rapid response time. SRCA confirmed that it has organized specialized courses to train people on the basic skills of the Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and the use of AED. The authority has already placed a number of AED devices in the Two Holy Mosques, Holy Sites and various schools.
