RIYADH — The Musaned platform under the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development (MHRSD) has clarified that the wage of the domestic worker must be agreed between the worker (him/herself), the employer, and the recruitment office. Musaned's clarification came upon answering a query from a citizen asking about the wage cost of a Thai domestic worker. Musaned, which is one of the MHRSD's initiatives, is a comprehensive electronic platform for recruiting domestic workers in an integrated manner. The platform aims in facilitating the procedures of recruiting domestic workers, increasing the level of preserving the rights of all parties, through informing the employers and the domestic workers with their rights and duties. It is noteworthy that MHRSD had announced earlier that Sierra Leone is the new international destination for the recruitment of domestic workers. MHRSD said it will add it to its decision of obligating all establishments that provide brokerage service for recruiting domestic workers not to exceed the highest ceiling of recruitment fee which it has set. It said that the maximum recruitment fee from the country has been fixed at SR7,500, exclusive of value added tax (VAT).
