RIYADH — The National Center of Meteorology (NCM) warned of thunderstorms that are expected to hit, in varying intensity, most Saudi regions in the coming days until the beginning of next week. In the latest weather forecast, the center said that most of the governorates of the provinces of Asir, Al-Baha, Hail, Al-Qassim, Najran, and Jazan and parts of Makkah, Riyadh, and Eastern Province will witness moderate to heavy thunderstorms, accompanied by sandstorms that may reach more than 50 km/h, hail, and torrential rain, with low visibility, from Sunday to Thursday. Moderate to heavy rains, accompanied by over 50 km/h sandstorms, hail, and flashfloods are expected to experience in parts of the provinces of Makkah, Riyadh, Al-Jouf, the Northern Borders, and most of the governorates of Madinah, the Eastern Province, and Al-Qassim on Sunday and Monday. According to the NCM forecast, light to moderate rain, accompanied by hail and sandstorms with a speed of over 50 km/h would likely to hit on Sunday parts of the provinces of Makkah, Madinah, Tabuk, Al-Jouf, and the Northern Borders. Moderate thunderstorms, accompanied by sandstorms that may reach more than 50 km/h, leading to low visibility, with hail and torrential rain are expected from Tuesday to Thursday in parts of the provinces of Makkah, Tabuk, and most of the governorates of Madinah and Riyadh. Parts of Al-Jouf and the Northern Border regions will also witness moderate to heavy thunderstorms on Tuesday and Wednesday while moderate rain will experience in most of the governorates of the Eastern Province on Thursday. The NCM called on everyone to follow the weather information through its communication services and media channels and to follow the instructions of the concerned authorities in this regard.
