KSrelief signs joint cooperation program with UNOPS
Published in The Saudi Gazette on 21 - 02 - 2023

King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief) signed today a joint cooperation program with the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS), on the sidelines of the 3rd Riyadh International Humanitarian Forum (RIHF). The program was signed by Advisor at the Royal Court and KSrelief Supervisor General Dr. Abdullah Bin Abdulaziz Al Rabeeah and UNOPS Acting Executive Director Jens Christian Wandel.
The program aims to enhance cooperation between the two sides in the field of capacity building, and exchange of experience and knowledge, and in other areas of common interest.
The program also aims to support the building of sustainable infrastructure, find innovative solutions, meet major challenges, and help achieve goals. In addition, it provides innovative solutions based on nature and green infrastructure to support the provision of vital services and protect communities from climate change.
It improves services provided in the areas of health care, education, water and sanitation, solid waste management, energy, information technology, communications, and transportation.
The KSrelief also signed a cooperation agreement with the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) on the sidelines of the third Riyadh International Humanitarian Forum.
Dr. Al Rabeeah and UN Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator Martin Griffiths signed the agreement, which aims at exchanging knowledge, experience, field expertise, research, studies, reports, and statistics on issues of mutual interest, as well mutual participation in seminars, workshops, and exhibitions, and exchange visits to explore means to enhance cooperation, training, and capacity-building in the humanitarian field.
The agreement is part of KSrelief's efforts to strengthen coordination with United Nations humanitarian organizations and agencies in a bid to advance the center's institutional internal work and expand humanitarian action.
Dr. Al Rabeeah also met in Riyadh with UNRWA Commissioner General Philippe Lazzarini, on the sidelines of the third Riyadh International Humanitarian Forum.
The two sides discussed several issues of common concern in the humanitarian and relief field, as well as means of enhancing cooperation and coordination.
Lazzarini praised Saudi Arabia's keenness to stand with the brotherly Palestinian people and help alleviate their suffering, and the Kingdom's support, through its humanitarian arm KSrelief, which contributed to improving the humanitarian conditions of Palestinian refugees, highlighting the close partnership between the agency and the center. — SPA
