Syeda Amtul Saudi Gazette JEDDAH — A renowned Indian politician Abu Asim Azmi, member of legislative assembly Samajwadi Party India, was felicitated by Saudi businessmen Shaikh Hamad Bin Khunaizan and Omar Bin Khunaizan in a function held at a farmhouse in Riyadh Monday. Azmi, who is on a short visit to the Kingdom with his family members and staff, spoke to the prominent Indian community members at the function. A large gathering of prominent Saudis and Azmi supporters like Indian businessmen Mohammed Rafeeq, Shahbaz Farooqui and others were among the guests. He said: “He and his party is always ready to help Indian workers residing in Saudi Arabia, especially from the states of Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh (UP). Regarding the repatriation of Indian workers following the implementation of Nitaqat program, he said that when he returns to India he will discuss this issue with his 22 members of his party to raise the issue in the parliament. While appreciating the remittances made by the Indians, Azmi said: “Indians who are working here are sacrificing a lot because they are away from their family and friends.” Talking about the law and order situation in UP, he said everything is functioning smoothly and the it is just propaganda of the opposition to defame the present government. He added that in the next general election Samajwadi Party would play a crucial role in forming the government. He also met with Indian Ambassador Hamid Ali Rao and discussed the problems faced by Indians in Saudi Arabia.
