JEDDAH — Most governorates of the Makkah region will witness moderate to heavy rain from Wednesday until Friday, according to the forecast of the National Center of Meteorology (NCM). Hussein Al-Qahtani, spokesman of NCM, said in a statement that weather indications show that the current rainy situation in Jeddah would not be at the rates of the torrential rain that hit Jeddah for several hours on Nov. 24. The NCM announced raising the alert level to an "advanced alert" of moderate to heavy rains in the Jeddah governorate, starting from 2:00 p.m. Wednesday and ending at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday. The rain will be accompanied by surface winds, high waves, hail, torrential rains, and low visibility, Al-Qahtani said. "The center monitors weather developments in all the regions of Saudi Arabia and coordinates with the concerned authorities in dealing with the situation in the field," he added. According to NCM statement, moderate to heavy rain will be experienced in most parts of the Makkah region, including Makkah city, Jeddah, Rabigh, Taif, Jumum, Al-Kamel, Khulais, Bahra, Allaith, Qunfudhah, Al-Ardiyat, Adham, and Maisan from Wednesday to Friday. Meanwhile, the General Directorate of Civil Defense called on everyone to take caution, abide by the directorate's instructions, and stay away from valleys, torrents, dams, water pools, lighting poles, and electric generators and operating rooms on the streets.
