WASHINGTON — Saudi Arabia's consulate in Houston in the United States of America provided hotel accommodation for Saudi citizens who were evacuated from Florida due to Hurricane Ian. Housing was provided for the affected people in a hotel in the port city of Mobile in Alabama. Shafi Al-Otaibi, Saudi consul general in Houston, visited the citizens at the hotel to reassure their condition, follow up on the services provided to them, and fulfill their requirements. The concerned authorities in Florida had issued orders for the compulsory evacuation of residents from several counties to save them from the effects of the Hurricane. The Saudi consulate earlier called on all citizens in the state to exercise caution and follow the instructions to deal with the effects of the Hurricane and to communicate with the consulate if it is necessary. Saudi Arabia had started evacuating its nationals who were displaced by the Hurricane last week. Saudi Ambassador to US Princess Reema bint Bandar gave necessary instructions to Consul General Shafi Al-Otaibi to follow up on the progress of the evacuation process. One of the most dangerous storms to hit the US in years, Ian has left 2.4 million homes and businesses in Florida without power and floodwaters surging inland.
