The UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson made a surprise visit to Ukraine's capital and met President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. They walked through Kiev's streets together and met a passer-by. Johnson's last minute visit to the capital was unannounced — the first sign he was there, came with a tweet by the Ukrainian embassy in London showing a photo of him meeting President Zelenskyy. Downing Street said the PM traveled to Ukraine in an attempt to show solidarity with Ukrainian people. Johnson became the latest European leader to visit Kiev this weekend after the bodies were discovered in several towns from where the Russian army retreated. Johnson's trip also included a pledge from London of 120 armored vehicles and new anti-ship missile systems — part of another 100 million pounds (€120 million, $130 million) commitment to delivering high-grade military equipment. The UK leader also confirmed an additional $500 million in World Bank lending, taking Britain's total loan guarantee up to $1 billion. Johnson's visit comes a day after the European Commission chief Ursula von der Leyen traveled to the Ukrainian capital of Kiev. She also visited Bucha town where at least 20 bodies of people in civilian clothes, claimed to have been executed by retreating Russian troops by Ukraine, were discovered last week along with hundreds of mass graves. Von der Leyen and Johnson's visit also come after the West, including the US and even Japan, slapped a slew of added sanctions against Russia, including a ban on Russian coal imports and measures against President Vladimir Putin's two adult daughters. The sanctions followed after the revelation of the Bucha killings, which Ukraine and the West have amounted to war crimes. — Agencies
