The second-round activities of STC Formula 1 Saudi Grand Prix 2022 kicked off Friday, four months after the first round, at the Jeddah Corniche Circuit. The longest and fastest street circuit in the world opened its doors Friday to Formula 1 drivers, teams and fans. Formula 1 returns to the Jeddah circuit after the extraordinary first race last December, which witnessed an epic competition under the floodlights between Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen, ended with the latter securing his first victory of the race for the World Championship title in the final race. While the pinnacle of motorsport returns to Jeddah with the start of the season, the competition remains wide open. On the race track, the drivers will participate in the first two practice sessions, which allow them to adapt to the challenges posed by the Jeddah circuit, and test the new Formula 1 cars on the high-speed narrow sections of the Jeddah Corniche circuit before the important qualifying session begins Saturday. The Formula 2 Series will take off Friday, the largest tributary for Formula 1 drivers, coupled with the longest-running Porsche Sprint Challenge Middle East, the most successful racing series in the region, which also returns to Jeddah after its first round last December. The tickets for the second edition of the race were recently made available to the local and international fans. In addition to the main Formula 1 race, all ticket owners will also enjoy watching the Formula 2 support race series and the Porsche Sprint Challenge Middle East series, along with various entertainment activities, festivals and concerts that will take place in the arena throughout the weekend. — SPA
