Saudi Customs foils attempt to smuggle 1.6 million captagon pills

The Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority (ZATCA) at Jeddah Islamic Port has thwarted an attempt to smuggle 1,6 million Captagon pills, found hidden in a caravan shipment intended for trips.
ZATCA said on Friday that caravan was subject to customs procedures and was examined through security process at the port, when the authorities found a large quantity of Captagon pills hidden in a technical way inside the cavity of the floor of caravan trailer, adding that upon completion of the seizure.
The authority coordinated with the General Directorate of Narcotics Control to ensure the arrest of the recipients of the pills in the Kingdom, which resulted in the arrest of three persons.
The authority reiterated that it will continue to tighten control over the Kingdom's imports and exports and take action to counter smuggling attempts, to achieve its strategy and contribute to the security and protection of the society.
The authority called on everyone to contribute to the fight against smuggling operations to protect society and the national economy, by contacting the authority reports line designated for security communications (1910) or via e-mail at [email protected] or calling the international number (00966114208417). It stressed that through these communication channels it treats the reports related to smuggling crimes and violation of the customs regulations with confidentiality and that financial reward will be given for accurate tip-offs. — SPA
