JEDDAH — Food supplies and reserves in Saudi Arabia are stable and there are no concerns about its abundance in local markets amid the current Russian-Ukrainian crisis, Minister of Environment, Water and Agriculture Eng. Abdulrahman Al-Fadhli said on Saturday. He added, "Local stocks of basic food commodities, which include wheat, rice, sugar, vegetable oils and barely, are at safe levels and there are no fears of any shortage." Al-Fadhli pointed out that the supply chains of agricultural, animal and food commodities are safe, reliable and continuous in light of the volume of local production of many basic commodities and the achievement of high sufficiency rates for many of them. He said that the Food Abundance Committee, emanating from the Food Security Committee, is holding meetings continuously during this period to monitor the abundance of food commodities in the local market, and to follow up on global and local supply chains. The minister emphasized the strength and durability of the food system in the Kingdom, thanks to the great support of the wise leadership. He recalled the Kingdom's efforts dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic, whose repercussions exceed the current crisis and how there were no shortage of food supply in the Kingdom.
