RIYADH – The impact of the fifth cold wave started on Monday and it will continue until Wednesday, according to Hussein Al-Qahtani, spokesman of the National Center of Meteorology (NCM). He said that the lowest recorded temperature will be minus two degrees Celsius during this period and that will be experienced in the northern regions as well as in the region of Hail. Attending the YaHala program on the Rotana Khaleejia television, Al-Qahtani noted that the winter season, which continued for more than 50 days, will end astronomically on March 20. He said that the cold wave that the Kingdom is currently witnessing mostly comes from the northern countries such as Jordan, Syria, Lebanon and Turkey in the form of cold air masses and snowfall. "The Kingdom's weather cannot be compared to what those countries are witnessing now in terms of a noticeable drop in temperatures and strong, sweeping cold waves," he added.
