RIYADH — Saudi Arabia has won 13 places in several categories of Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al-Maktoum Award for Distinguished Academic Performance at the level of schools in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) obtained by male and female students, teachers and researchers. The Ministry of Education said on Saturday, through its official account on Twitter: "To enhance the Kingdom's position in global competitiveness, the sons and daughters of the nation win 13 awards in the Hamdan Bin Rashid Award for Distinguished Academic Performance." For his part, Minister of Education Dr. Hamad bin Muhammad Al-Sheikh congratulated the winners while expressing his delight over the achievement. Al-Sheikh's statement reflects the leadership's care and interest in its people's academic progress, its support that extends to all fields, and its effort in boosting the Kingdom's position in global competitiveness, the ministry's statement said. The winners The ministry stated that of the 13 distributed awards, 6 were boys, 5 for girls, and two for educational research. The award for the "Distinguished Student" category was won by Amr Walid Al-Buraq from the Jazan region, Hamad Fahd Al-Dosari from Al-Ahsa. Also, Lian Muhammad Al-Sultan from the Riyadh region, and Rawan Muhammad Al-Enezi from the Northern Border region. According to the ministry, the "Distinguished Teacher" category was won by Hashem Muhammad Al-Hashem and Youssef Khamis Al-Ghamdi, both from the Eastern Province, as well as teacher Taghreed Masoud Bagnaid from the Yanbu governorate and Amna Maleh Al-Anzi from the Northern Border region. In the "Distinguished School and School Administration" category, Marz AlIman Secondary School (boys) won from the Madinah region, the Third Model School (Boys) from Jeddah, and the Fifth Secondary School (Girls) in Yanbu. On the other hand, teacher Rifa'a Muhammad Al-Jawhar, and Dr. Abdul Hamid Al-Arfaj from King Faisal University both won the "Educational Research Award". Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum Award for Distinguished Academic Performance, instituted in 2008, has always aimed at creating educational excellence, nurturing the gifted, qualifying the distinguished groups of students and educators, discovering the depths of their creativity and abilities, and presenting them to the educational field. The award consists of three categories: school and school administration, teacher, and student. The Kingdom has won many awards in all categories.
