RIYADH - The Egyptian Siamese twins Salma and Sarah arrived in Riyadh on Tuesday. This is in line with the directives of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman. Accompanied by their parents, the conjoined twins arrived at King Khalid International Airport on board a flight from Egypt. They were then transferred to the King Abdullah Specialist Hospital for Children under the Ministry of National Guard, to study their health condition and consider the possibility of carrying out their surgical separation. Advisor at the Royal Court and General Supervisor of King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre (KSRelief) Dr. Abdullah Al-Rabeeah, who is also head of the medical and surgical team, thanked King Salman and Crown Prince Muhammad Bin Salman for this noble humanitarian initiative. On his part, Abdul Ghani Hilal, father of the twins, thanked the Saudi leadership for the warm reception and hospitality accorded to them. He also lauded the Saudi National Program for the Separation of Conjoined Twins, which has become a major humanitarian milestone at the international level. This initiative comes as an extension of the great humanitarian efforts being undertaken by Saudi Arabia to alleviate human suffering everywhere. In July this year, the Saudi medical team, led by Dr. Al-Rabeeah, separated the Yemeni parasitic twins Aisha Ahmad Said Mheimoud. This was the 50th surgery performed so far to separate conjoined twins as part of the Saudi National Program for the Separation of Conjoined Twins. Over three decades, 117 Siamese twins from 22 countries have been examined and assessed as part of the program. The Egyptian Siamese twins is the 118th of such cases.
