Over 4,800 foreigners arrested for committing criminal offenses have been deported to their respective countries during the last two months. The deportations came at the behest of Prince Naif Bin Abdul Aziz, Minister of Interior, Major General Ali Al-Harethi, Director of the Central Prisons' Department, said here. Talking to newsmen after an inspection tour of Jeddah prisons, Al-Harethi explained that the foreigners deported were involved in minor crimes. He said the purpose of the deportation was to ease the overcrowding of prisons. Al-Harethi also said that the National Committee for the Care of Inmates has proposed a program for the treatment of drug addicts in both prison facilities and hospitals. – Okaz __
