MANAMA — The Lebanese-registered Alwaleed Bin Talal Foundation-Global, chaired by Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal, has decided to buy and renovate the house of the late Ghazi Al-Gosaibi in the Bahraini capital Manama. The move to convert the house into a museum was part of the foundation's efforts to enrich the culture and heritage of Bahrain. “In coordination with the Bahraini Ministry of Culture led by Sheikha Mai Bint Mohammed Al-Khalifa, chairman of the board of trustees of Sheikh Ebrahim Center for Culture and Research, the Alwaleed Foundation is sponsoring the renovation of the house of Ghazi Al-Gosaibi in Manama to preserve his work and perpetuate his memories,” said a statement issued by the foundation Sunday. The kingdom's culture and national heritage sector has adopted the principle of cultural openness to support the Bahraini cultural movement via its museums and heritage events, both essential components of Bahraini society, the statement said. The sector also seeks to open new dialogue with other cultures and create multicultural events that broaden the horizons of Bahrainis and visitors alike, which in turn promotes Bahrain on a global level as a distinct hub for cultural activity and diversity, it added. Alwaleed Bin Talal Foundation and Alwaleed Bin Talal Foundation-Global are involved in a wide spectrum of humanitarian and philanthropic activities in more than 75 countries. Their main focus areas have been established around strategic initiatives, ranging from disaster relief and community development, to women and youth empowerment, as well as promoting intercultural understanding. Prince Alwaleed has been involved in philanthropy for more than three decades, both in Saudi Arabia and abroad and is committed to supporting humanitarian projects that directly benefit Saudi citizens, as well as people around the world. — SG
