Minister of Commerce and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Saudi Standards, Metrology, and Quality Organization (SASO) Dr. Majid Bin Abdullah Al-Qasabi will patronage the 5th Standards Forum 2021, scheduled to kick off on Monday 18 Oct. 18. The forum will be held virtually under the slogan "Shared Vision for a Better World." SASO pointed out that the forum aims to shed light on the organization's vital role with regards to building and developing national technical capabilities, the importance of application of standards in the Fourth Industrial Revolution, as well as supporting the development of scientific research. The forum will present local and international experiences, in addition to the best practices resulting from the application of standards. It will explore the industrial sector's needs, challenges, and opportunities to improve and develop the standards system through direct communication with beneficiaries and manufacturers in order to achieve the competitive advantage of national industries. The forum's main session will discuss the role of standards in promoting sustainable development. The Standards Forum will include workshops focusing on the role of standards in supporting small and medium enterprises and the concept of circular economy from the perspective of standards. — SPA
