DAMMAM — During the past week, the King Fahd Causeway witnessed 230,000 passengers crossing to and fro from Saudi Arabia and Bahrain following the decision to allow citizens under the age of 18 to travel to Bahrain. The decision followed the Ministry of Interior's decision to lift the suspension of travel for Saudi citizens under the age of 18 to Bahrain, with the application of the previously announced requirements for travel of citizens. Eastern Province Passports Department spokesman Col. Mualla Al-Otaibi confirmed that the departure and arrival procedures for travelers went smoothly and in an orderly manner. The spokesman noted that travel instructions to Bahrain obligate citizens to travel with a passport, as entry with a national identity card will not be accepted. Citizens must verify the validity dates of their passports, as passports must be valid for more than 3 months, he noted.
