Imams and muezzins have been warned not to neglect their mosque duties during Ramadan and they must lead all prayers, said Tawfiq Al-Sudairi, Deputy Minister of Islamic Affairs, Endowment, Call, and Guidance. Imams and muezzins will be subject to punishment if they ignore the instructions, Al-Sudairi said. The ministry has coordinated with Qur'an schools to have distinguished students with beautiful voices lead the Taraweeh prayers in mosques whose imams have not memorized the entire Holy Qur'an. The Deputy Minister has also asked mosques not to compete with one another by trying to have the loudest sound system. This directive was issued to ensure that worshippers pray in tranquility and are not distracted, Al-Sudair said. – Okaz __
