Taher Zaroog MISRATA, Libya – Misratans have launched the Kafana (Enough) campaign, which calls on the people of the city to renounce violence, down arms and reject attacks on state institutions. Kafana, which held its first rally Wednesday further demands that the rule of law be established. It also calls for greater professionalism to be shown in the workplace, asking that officials demonstrate their commitment to their jobs by adopting punctuality and adhering to office hours. Kafana organizers spoke at a demonstration in Misrata Wednesday, outlining their commitment to the Charter of Honor, which Misrata declared last month. They also appealed to the people of the city to show solidarity and support this initiative. The gathering attracted several hundred people calling for the rule of law and for greater support to be shown to the courts and judiciary. It was organized by Shoura Council, civil society organizations, lawyers and members of the Misrata Business Council. The rally assembled after Asr prayers in front of the Al-Sheikl mosque. From there, the protestors marched to Justice Square in front of the courts complex, carrying banners deploring violence and abuse and calling for the enforcement of the rule of law. – Libya Herald
