RIYADH — The Ministry of Health said that at least three weeks of gap is recommended between two doses of COVID-19 vaccine and this is applicable to both Oxford-AstraZeneca and Pfizer-BionTech vaccines. The ministry's clarifications came in response to an inquiry about the recommended time break between the two doses of AstraZeneca and Pfizer vaccines. "According to the current recommendations, the second dose of the coronavirus vaccine can be taken at least three weeks after taking the first dose and this reveals that the time interval between the two doses does not differ from one vaccine to another," the ministry said. The recommendations of medical experts also included that those who have recovered from coronavirus infection shall receive two doses of the vaccine. The first dose of the vaccine can be obtained after at least 10 days of infection, and the second dose can be received at least three weeks after taking the first dose, the ministry said. The ministry called on everyone to hurry up to complete two doses of vaccines to protect against complications from the virus. It emphasized the importance of obtaining the available appointments from any of the vaccination centers across the Kingdom through the ministry's Sehhaty application. Meanwhile, the total doses of coronavirus vaccine that have been administered all over the Kingdom as of Saturday reached 33,524,372 doses, and these included 21,265,344 first doses and 12,257,791 second doses, the ministry sources said.
