ABU DHABI — Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan received on Friday a phone call from Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis. During the call, the Greek prime minister expressed thanks on behalf of his country to the United Arab Emirates for providing assistance to people affected by the wildfires and necessary materials that contributed to fighting the fires raging in several regions in Greece. Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed affirmed the UAE's solidarity with Greece in confronting these difficult circumstances, the UAE's official news agency, WAM, reported. Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Sheikh Mohamed and Greek Prime Minister Mitsotakis also discussed an array of issues of mutual concern and exchanged views on them. The UAE continues to provide aid to those affected by wildfires in Greece and to enhance protection for civilians and provide their necessary needs. This week , the UAE, through its humanitarian arm the Emirates Red Crescent (ERC), dispatched for the Greek capital, Athens, the second aircraft loaded with food, medical supplies, children's food supplements and firefighting materials, such as firefighting clothing, pumps, water hoses and relevant accessories. The UAE also assisted the efforts aimed at suppressing the fires, by deploying a helicopter to contain the wildfires on the borders of Athens.
