TRIESTE, Italy — Saudi Arabia's Minister of Communications and Information Technology Eng. Abdullah Al-Sawaha held bilateral meetings here on Thursday with top ministers from Italy, Germany, Japan, Singapore and South Africa on the sidelines of the G20 ministerial meeting. During his meeting with Italy's Minister of Economic Development and Innovation of Giancarlo Giorgetti, Al-Sawaha and Giorgetti sought to boost bilateral cooperation in the fields of communications, information technology, and space. He discussed Saudi Arabia's efforts to accelerate the digital transformation process, motivate entrepreneurship, and support the research, development and innovation system with the Federal Minister for Economic Affairs and Energy of Germany, Peter Altmaier. They also reviewed the investment opportunities available in the Saudi market to German companies specialized in the fields of technology, space, and innovation. Al-Sawaha held extensive discussions with the Japanese Minister of Internal Affairs and Communications Ryota Takeda. They explored areas of bilateral, especially in the fields of communications and information technology, and benefit from their technical development and advanced and distinguished expertise in this field. The Saudi minister met with the Minister of Communication and Information and the Minister-in-charge of the Cyber Security Agency and Smart Nation Initiative in Singapore, Josephine Teo. During the meeting, they reviewed the promising investment opportunities that Saudi Arabia offers in the fields of information technology, space, and innovation. Al-Sawaha also met with his South African counterpart. During the meeting, they discussed opportunities for joint cooperation to accelerate the adoption of modern technologies and motivate digital entrepreneurship and partnership in the field of research, development, and innovation.
