Saleh Fareed Saudi Gazette JEDDAH – The 3rd Jeddah Tourism and Travel Exhibition (JTTX) under the theme “The Gate of tourism” kicked off activities at Jeddah Hilton Tuesday with the participation of more than 150 companies and 10 countries representing various supply chains of the hospitality sector across Saudi Arabia and the Middle East. Dr. Hani Abu Ras, Mayor of Jeddah, inaugurated the exhibition held under the auspices of Saudi Commission for Tourism and Antiquities (SCTA) and with the collaboration of the Jeddah Chambers of Commerce and Industry (JCCI). Maya Halfawi, chairperson of the exhibition's organizing committee, said the 3rd edition of JTTX is the official platform for leaders and decision-makers from the travel, tourism, hospitality and related industries. She said “visitors will find the best offers they can get in person from tourism operators who will be there during the 3-day event. It is a great opportunity for those who are looking for good deals.” Speaking to the Saudi Gazette, Executive Director of Tourism in Makkah region Muhammad Al-Amri said that the SCTA is working on the implementation of several projects aimed at improving the quality of tourist services in the country. “It is an important exhibition, especially since the Kingdom has witnessed an increase in tourism,” he said. He further stressed the economic potential of this promising sector to create new jobs across various level as direct and indirect tourism-related jobs in the various tourist activities would exceed one million by 2016 in Saudi Arabia. He noted that the SCTA programs hope to attract Saudis to spend some of their vacations and breaks in the country. Five key segments are represented at the show's debut, including interiors & design, operating equipment & supplies, technology, outdoor & resort experience, and food & beverage. JTTX is one of the largest travel and tourism marketing events in the GCC and one of the top “must visit” events in Saudi Arabia. It showcases the widest variety of tourism products from different regions of the world, and attracts international visitors and media globally. JTTX is a three-day trade event that attracts well over 20000 visitors, delegates and decision makers from the travel, tourism, hospitality and related industries.
