RIYADH — Deputy Minister of Health for Preventive Health Affairs Dr. Abdullah Asiri said that there is actually no specific drug to treat COVID-19 although a large number of drugs, including antivirals, immunomodulatory and serums, have been tested to treat coronavirus. Dr. Asiri recommended medications to treat symptoms of coronavirus. He pointed out the possibility of using dexamethasone and similar drugs in cases of hypoxia, in addition to the possibility of using interleukin-6 antagonists for other symptoms. However, he did not recommend the use of drugs such as hydroxychloroquine and ivermectin anti-parasitic for treating coronavirus vaccine.
