Coalition intercepts, destroys Houthis' missiles targeting Saudi Arabia
Published in The Saudi Gazette on 28 - 06 - 2021

The Saudi-led coalition to support the legitimate government in Yemen on Sunday announced the interception and destruction of two ballistic missiles launched by the "terrorist" Houthi militias towards Saudi Khamis Mushait city.
The coalition affirmed that it foiled all hostile attempts of the Houthis aiming to target residential areas and civilians, the coalition said in a tweet aired by the Saudi Press Agency.
It confirmed that it would take all measures to deal with the sources of threats, the agency added.
Meanwhile, the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Secretary General Dr. Nayef Falah Mubarak Al-Hajraf condemned Sunday the Houthi militia's continued attacks on the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia by launching two ballistic missiles targeting civilians and civilians objects.
The secretary general confirmed that the continuation of these terrorist attacks by Houthis represents the militia's blatant challenge to the international community and disregard for all international laws and norms as well as its rejection of all efforts aiming to achieve peace in Yemen.
He called on the international community to assume its responsibilities to stop these repeated attacks that target vital and civilian institutions.
Dr. Al-Hajraf also commended the Forces of the Coalition to Restore Legitimacy in Yemen led by Saudi Arabia and the Royal Saudi Air Defense Forces that successfully confront and thwart all these terrorist acts by the Houthi militias, affirming the GCC's support and solidarity with Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in all measures it takes to defend its territories and preserve its security and safety of its citizens and residents.
Also, the Yemeni Vice President Lt. Gen. Ali Mohsen Saleh expressed his appreciation for the positions of the Coalition Forces to Restore Legitimacy in Yemen and its sincere role in supporting Yemen.
In a statement to Yemeni News Agency (Saba), the Yemeni Vice President condemned all terrorist and criminal attempts of the Iranian-backed terrorist Houthi militia to target civilian objects and vital installations in Saudi Arabia and threaten international navigation and regional security by launching ballistic missiles, drones and bomb-laden boats.
In Abu Dhabi, the United Arab Emirates too strongly condemned and denounced the Iran-backed terrorist Houthi militia's systematic attempts of targeting civilians and civil objects in Khamis Mushait, Najran and the Southern Region of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia by launching a ballistic missile and booby-trapped drones which were successfully intercepted and destroyed by the Coalition Forces to Restore Legitimacy in Yemen.
In a statement issued by its Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, the UAE affirmed that these terror attacks by the Houthis reflect their blatant disregard for the international community and all international laws and norms.
The Ministry urged the international community to take an immediate and decisive stance to stop these recurrent acts, which target critical infrastructure and threaten the security and stability of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, as well as global energy supplies and the economy.
The Ministry also emphasized that the continued threat of these attacks over the recent days is a grave escalation that represents new evidence of these militias' attempts to undermine security and stability in the region.
UAE renewed its full solidarity with Saudi Arabia over these subversive terrorist attacks and reiterated its stand against all threats for all measures taken by Saudi Arabia to maintain the safety and security of its citizens and residents.
The statement stressed that the security of the UAE and Saudi Arabia are indivisible, and that any threat facing Saudi Arabia is considered a threat to the security and stability of the UAE. — SPA
