MAKKAH — On behalf of the General Presidency for the Affairs of the Two Holy Mosques, the Agency for Engineering Projects and Studies announced the resumption of the package of construction, electromechanical, and architectural finishing works and the issuance of the 60 regulatory licenses for these works. This has come after making use of the project sites to accommodate the batches of Umrah performers and worshipers during the holy month of Ramadan on a total area of 528,301 sq. meters. These also included the King Abdullah Expansion Projects, the project for raising the capacity of the Mataf Building (the building accommodating the circumambulation area), and resumption of the works for the main gates (King Abdulaziz, Al-Umrah, and Al-Fateh Gates) and minarets, works for fitting and installing the ceilings on the several stories of the Mataf Building, and completion of works for the second floor Mezzanine Project. This is in addition to the support services works, and packages of infrastructure projects, in coordination with the Management Office of the Ministry of Finance. The Agency also discussed the plans for work projects and programs, the different stages for carrying out the remaining and targeted works, to work collectively by joining efforts in preparing the areas, spaces, and zones allocated for this Hajj season 1442H, as per the spaces and routes approved in the plans for grouping pilgrims. The Agency for Engineering Projects and Studies said that the works have been completed so as to prepare the spaces and projects for the benefit of the pilgrims and enable them to avail of the amenities of this expansion and the available services during this year's Hajj season. The president for the Affairs of the Two Holy Mosques had issued his directives to the pertinent agencies to speed up the tempo of work, and raise the level of readiness, with the objective of providing the best services and means of comfort to the pilgrims.
