RIYADH — Coronavirus vaccines produced by American companies Johnson & Johnson and Moderna have now been approved by the concerned authorities in Saudi Arabia for incoming visitors, the Ministry of Health (MoH) clarified on Tuesday. The ministry also said that Pfizer and AstraZeneca vaccines are the approved vaccines for emergency use inside the Kingdom. The ministry confirmed it has administered more than 11.8 million COVID-19 doses of coronavirus vaccines through 587 vaccine centers in all regions of Saudi Arabia so far. On Sunday, the Saudi National Center for Disease Control and Prevention (Weqaya) announced that all travelers — residents and visitors — who have passed 14 days after completing their doses of vaccines approved in Saudi Arabia do not need to quarantine themselves upon arrival in the Kingdom. However, all those over the age of 8 need to submit a PCR COVID-19 test negative report for a sample taken not more than 72 hours before their scheduled departure for the Kingdom, starting from May 20. Weqaya also said institutional quarantine measures will be applied to non-Saudis who have not completed their vaccine doses approved in the Kingdom, according to what was announced by the Saudi Ministry of Interior.
