The Jeddah Chamber of Commerce and Industry will be electronically linked with all government departments according to an announcement by the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology in Riyadh on Saturday. In cooperation with the Ministry of Communications, Saleh Al-Turki, head of the JCCI board, signed an agreement which will facilitate communications between the Kingdom's government sectors. This new system will provide JCCI members with up-to-date services while ensuring the security of the identity of the user and personal information. “The electronic system will help increase the efficiency and quality of the services that we provide to our members,” added Al-Turki. This national project is part of the continuing efforts to develop and modernize the JCCI and other national chambers of commerce. “The launching of a new infrastructure that delivers electronic services through the integration of data and services between different government departments is a huge step forward,” said Al-Turki. The e-government transactions team and the Council of the Chambers of Commerce will develop the required technical details and standards. “This system will help link the Kingdom's smaller regional chambers of commerce making possible the smooth exchange of information in line with the directives of King Abdullah, Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, to develop an electronic system for each government department (Government Electronic Program),” Al-Turki added. All GCC countries will be linked by a new project called “Electronic Trade” which will help develop the Kingdom's economy. “We have also discussed creating a website for the Kingdom's economic information, such as, economic indicators and the current growth rate,” said Al-Turki. __
