Published in The Saudi Gazette on 08 - 04 - 2021

JEDDAH — Prince Khaled Al-Faisal, emir of Makkah and adviser to Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, presented on Wednesday the International Prize for Moderation to Minister of State for Foreign Affairs and Member of the Cabinet Adel Al-Jubeir. The emir also graced the graduation ceremony of the first batch of master's degree holders at the Prince Khaled Al-Faisal Institute for Moderation.
Jeddah Governor Prince Mishal Bin Majed, Minister of Education Dr. Hamad Al-Sheikh, and a number of princes and other dignitaries attended the function. In his speech after receiving the prize, Al-Jubeir said: "I extend my sincere thanks to Prince Khaled Al-Faisal and the Institute of Moderation for this award that I do not consider for myself alone, but rather for the Kingdom's policy and its great role in spreading moderation too."
He pointed out that the Kingdom, ever since the era of its founder King Abdulaziz until the period of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman and Crown Prince Muhammad Bin Salman, has been striving to establish peace and spread the sublime message of tolerance. "Moderation is Islam and mercy, renouncing hatred, spreading security and stability, and this has been the story of this country throughout history. The Kingdom has adopted initiatives and centers for dialogue, disseminating messages of tolerance and rapprochement between civilizations," he added.
Al-Jubeir has been picked for the fourth edition of the award in recognition of his distinguished efforts for moderation while representing the Kingdom in international forums, based on the principle of Saudi moderation in foreign policy in light of the directives of wise leadership.
The award was instituted by Prince Khaled Al-Faisal Institute for Moderation under King Abdulaziz University (KAU). More than 141 entities and personalities were nominated for the award in the fields of people and society, politics and diplomacy, thought and knowledge, science, and technology.
