GCC leads condemnation of Houthi militia's targeting cities with missile, drones
Published in The Saudi Gazette on 28 - 02 - 2021

The Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Dr. Nayef Falah Al-Hajraf condemned Sunday the terrorist Houthi militia targeting of Riyadh with a ballistic missile attack, and a number of drones towards Khamis Mushayt and Jazan.
Al-Hajraf emphasized that the continuation of these terrorist attacks carried out by the Houthi militia reflects its blatant challenge to the international community and its disregard for all international laws and norms, which requires the international community to take an immediate and decisive stance to stop these repeated terrorist acts, which target vital and civilian installations and the security and stability of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
He lauded the vigilance and efficiency of the forces of the Coalition to Restore Legitimacy in Yemen, citing the air defense forces success in facing all terrorist attempts carried out by the Houthi militias. He confirmed the solidarity and stance of the GCC with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in whatever measures it takes to defend its territories and preserve the safety of its citizens and residents.
Meanwhile, Kuwait condemned in the strongest terms the Houthi militias continuing to commit its terrorist crimes by targeting civilians and civilian areas in the capital, Riyadh, and other cities in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, by launching ballistic missile and bomb-laden UAVs.
The Kuwaiti Ministry of Foreign Affairs said Sunday in a statement that the Houthi militias' insistence on continuing these terrorist acts is a continuation of the dangerous escalation that these militias are undertaking to harm the security of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, undermine the stability of the region and a flagrant challenge to international and humanitarian law and hinder international efforts seeking to reach a political solution that ends the ongoing conflict in Yemen.
The ministry renewed Kuwait's call to the international community, especially the Security Council, to assume it responsibilities in stopping this dangerous escalation, put an end to it, and maintain international peace and security. The ministry affirmed that the State of Kuwait stands by the Kingdom and supports it in all the measures it takes to preserve its security, stability and sovereignty.
In Jeddah, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Secretary General Dr. Yousef Bin Ahmed Al-Othaimeen strongly condemned, in a statement issued Sunday, the ballistic missile attack by the terrorist Houthi militia towards Riyadh and a number of bomb-laden UAVs targeting civilians in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, as the forces of the Coalition to Restore Legitimacy in Yemen intercepted and destroyed them.
The secretary general praised the efficiency of the forces of the Coalition to Restore Legitimacy in Yemen in confronting the Houthi terrorist attacks that target civilians and civilian objects in the Kingdom deliberately and systematically.
He affirmed that the OIC supports all measures taken by the Coalition to Restore Legitimacy in Yemen to stop war crimes committed by the terrorist Houthi militia by launching ballistic missiles, bomb-laden UAVs and booby-trapped boats to target innocent civilians and civilian objects in the Kingdom.
In Cairo, Egypt has expressed its strong condemnation of the Houthi militia's continuing terrorist attacks against the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the last of which was launching of a ballistic missile towards Riyadh City and a number of bomb-laden UAVs towards the Southern Region of Saudi Arabia.
In a statement issued Sunday, the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs affirmed Egypt's solidarity with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and support for measures being taken by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to preserve its security, stability and citizens' safety from such cowardly and despicable attacks that represent a grave violation of the international law and a clear threat to regional peace and security.
In Manama, the kingdom of Bahrain too strongly condemned the launching of a ballistic missile by the terrorist Houthi militia towards Riyadh City and a number of bomb-laden UAVs towards Jazan and Khamis Mushayt cities.
In its statement, the Bahraini Ministry of Foreign Affairs has affirmed its solidarity with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in all measures it takes against these terrorist attacks that deliberately and systematically target cities, civilian objects and civilians in flagrant violation of international humanitarian law.
The Bahraini Foreign Ministry praised the efficiency and vigilance of the forces of the Coalition to Restore Legitimacy in Yemen that intercepted and destroyed the ballistic missile and bomb-laden UAVs, stressing the need for the international community to assume its political responsibilities towards these Houthi attacks on Saudi Arabia's territories.
Meanwhile, the Arab Red Crescent and Red Cross Organization (ARCO) Secretary General Dr. Saleh Bin Hamad Al-Tuwaijri too has described the terrorist Houthi militia's launch of drones and a ballistic missile towards Saudi Arabia to target civilians as a violation of international conventions and the rules of international humanitarian law stipulated in 1949 Geneva Conventions and their 1977 Additional Protocols.
In a statement issued by the organization Sunday, the secretary general condemned the repeated targeting of civilian areas in Saudi Arabia, calling on the international community to assume its responsibilities in the face of these repeated attacks, to ensure that they are prevented, and to stop the perpetrators of those terrorist acts against humanity. — SPA
