Shopping malls and markets in Saudi Arabia will continue to remain open as long as the members of the community strictly adhere to the preventive measures to curb the spread of coronavirus, said Abdulrahman Alhussein, the official spokesman of the Ministry of Commerce, on Thursday. Speaking at a press conference on COVID-19 updates, Alhussein noted that the commerce minister and municipal and rural affairs and housing minister held a meeting with more than 370 owners of shopping malls and other commercial facilities where they underlined the importance of adherence to the health protocols, controls, and obligations. Furthermore, he noted that the ministry's supervisory teams are continuing with their inspection tours, having detected ten violations per hour as they recently-conducted over 120,000 rounds. Alhussein urged consumers to report violations to the competent authorities. — SG
