KUWAIT CITY — Kuwait has suspended all commercial flights and closed the country's land and sea borders from 11 p.m. on Monday until Jan.1, 2021, the government communications office said in a tweet citing the Cabinet approval. The move comes following reports about the appearance of a new strain of coronavirus in the United Kingdom. Kuwait on Sunday had banned passenger flights from the UK over the new strain of the virus. Citizens and residents who arrived in Kuwait from the European Union and the UK between Dec. 11, 2020, and Dec. 21, 2020, are required to undergo a coronavirus test on the fifth and tenth days after their arrival. They are instructed to take the test at Jaber Hospital from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. and bring evidence of their return date with them, Kuwait Times reported on Monday.
