GOLD COAST, Australia — A logo incorporating two iconic Gold Coast attractions — Pacific Ocean beaches and a high-rise dominated skyline — was unveiled Thursday for the 2018 Commonwealth Games five years to the day before they are scheduled to begin. Swimmer Kieren Perkins, the 1,500-meter gold medal winner at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics, and 2012 London Olympic 100-meter hurdles champion Sally Pearson, were among those who attended the unveiling. The Commonwealth Games on the Gold Coast are scheduled from April 4 to 15, 2018. It is the fifth time the Games have been held in Australia, the last was Melbourne in 2006. The next Games will be held at Glasgow. — AP
