King Faisal Specialist Hospital & Research Centre (KFSH&RC) is one of the very few health care facilities outside the United States to be recognized by the College of Healthcare Information Management Executives (CHIME) as ‘Healthcare's Most Wired' for being at the forefront of using healthcare information technology (IT) to improve the delivery of care. CHIME is an executive organization that enables senior health care IT leaders to exchange best practices and promote the effective use of IT to advance the health and care in the communities they serve. For the ‘Healthcare's Most Wired' program, CHIME conducts an annual survey to identify and verify the adoption of IT by health care providers around the world with the aim of elevating patient safety and outcomes. "The CHIME ‘Most Wired' prestigious recognition is a testament to the maturity and interoperability of our Integrated Clinical Information System, powered by Cerner Millennium electronic health record, since its inception over two decades ago," said Dr. Osama Alswailem, chief information officer, KFSH&RC. "We are honored to be recognized for having deployed patient & staff facing technologies that help define and create positive clinical outcomes. Having an interoperable and/or ‘wired' organization lets KFSH&RC move healthcare beyond its boundaries and gives KFSH&RC the platform to assist in improving regional care as part of Vision 2030." The data collected by CHIME in the survey process extensively covered various aspects of IT, which led to the ‘Most Wired' recognition. These include KFSH&RC's well-established IT infrastructure that enables advanced technological deployments, business continuity/resilience, integration engines, patient portals, innovative data management and artificial intelligence-based analytics, population health systems and supply chain management among others. KFSH&RC is one of few leading organizations in the region who have proactively taken the lead by investing in machine learning, personalized medicine driven care and other states of the art technologies to elevate healthcare and enhance patient and caregiver experiences. This continues to be an integral part of KFSH&RC's transformation strategy to boost sector wide innovation and collaboration. "We commend KFSH&RC on this unique achievement and look forward to supporting them in the great strides they will realize throughout their multi-year transformation journey," said Karim Abd Elhay, general manager – Saudi Arabia and Egypt, Cerner Middle East and Africa. — SPA
