MANAMA — Bahrain's Cabinet on Monday welcomed the agreements signed with Israel, noting that they will help advance the peace and stability process in the Middle East, Bahrain News Agency reported. The Cabinet said that the agreements are also aimed at promoting tolerance, coexistence and openness to religions and cultures to establish broader relations for the benefit of the region's countries and people in order to enhance the efforts to resolve the Palestinian issue in accordance with the two-state solution, international resolutions, and the Arab Peace Initiative. In the virtual session chaired by Bahrain's Deputy Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Mubarak Al Khalifa, the Cabinet approved the agreements and memoranda of understanding (MoUs) signed between BahrainIsrael on the establishment of diplomatic relations between them, as well as on cooperation between their foreign affairs and finance ministries, in addition to trade, economy, air services, agriculture, information and telecommunications. The Cabinet lauded the keenness of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman and Bahrain's King Hamad bin Isa bin Salman Al Khalif to bolster the bilateral relations and intensify joint cooperation and coordination on issues of mutual interest. In this regard, the cabinet endorsed the amended protocol of the minutes of the establishment of the Saudi-Bahraini Coordination Council, signed between the two countries on July 28, 2019, to raise the level of the chairmanship of the council to the level of the crown princes. The Cabinet welcomed the 45 percent decrease in daily active cases of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) in Bahrain during four weeks, noting that the exploit reflects the societal commitment and the citizens' awareness of the scale of their responsibility towards their nation and community. The Cabinet urged more commitment and awareness until the virus is eradicated, praising the tireless efforts made by the medical staff and the teams supporting them in this regard. The Cabinet, marking the United Nations Day, praised the role played by the UN in promoting peace and safeguarding global security through its initiatives and efforts in the fields of development and service to humanity, stressing the Kingdom's keenness to support the noble efforts of the United Nations and cooperate with its agencies and bodies to achieve its humanitarian goals.
