RIYADH — Saudi Arabia's Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) announced on Tuesday the appointment of Ahlam Bint Abdulrahman Yankasar as director-general of the General Department of Cultural Affairs at the ministry. She has become the first woman to serve in the position of director-general in the ministry. Ahlam holds a master's degree in international business administration from the University of London. She has previously worked in the team of the office of the deputy minister of foreign for political and economic affairs, and as deputy head of the economic and cultural section of the Saudi embassy in London. She has also served as an official in charge of the economic and cultural file in MOFA's North America Department. During her illustrious career, she has also worked as a diplomatic coordinator at the general secretariat of the Saudi ambassadors' committee in Europe and as a member of the delegation representing the Kingdom in the 72nd session of the United Nations General Assembly where she delivered the Kingdom's speech during the general debate on women's advancement at the UN Third Committee (Social, Humanitarian and Cultural).
