JEDDAH — Maritime patrols of the Border Guards sector in Jeddah on Tuesday rescued the captain of a boat and his four companions after their boat partially sank at sea due to bad weather conditions. The spokesperson for the border guards, Lt. Col. Mesfer Al-Quraini, stated that a notification was received by the command and control room in the Jeddah sector from the boat captain after his vessel began to take on water off Jeddah coast. Immediately, the marine patrol of the Salman Bay Center as well as a medium-range interceptor boat were directed to the site and the captain of the boat as well as his four companions were rescued. The Saudi Red Crescent was later called to ensure their safety after one of them suffered a fatigue condition. After the checkup, it was found out that she is stable and does not need to be transferred to the hospital. The spokesman of the Border Guard called on all boat owners to take care and be careful, to inspect their vessels, perform periodic maintenance and equip them with maritime safety means, navigation and communication devices for their safety, and call the Border Guard emergency number (994) to request assistance, wishing safety for all.
