Parliament Speaker Sultan Al-Barakani discussed Thursday with US Ambassador to Yemen Christopher Hansel the latest developments in Yemen and UN and international efforts for activating peace talks. The two parties also discussed the latest efforts of the UN Envoy to Yemen Martin Griffiths to realize permanent and inclusive peace based on the three references; the GCC Initiative, the Outcomes of the National Dialogue Conference and Security Council's Resolution 2216. Al-Barakani pointed out the government's efforts in implementing the Riyadh Agreement as significant step in unifying the national front to face the Houthis and all other challenges facing Yemen. He reconfirmed the Parliament's support to all peace initiatives in accordance with the three references and called for the ending of the suffering of Yemeni people caused by Houthi militia's coup, coronavirus pandemic and other issues. For his part, the US diplomat reconfirmed his country's support to peace efforts in Yemen, pointing out that his country will work with all international partners to stop the war in Yemen and end the suffering of the Yemeni people. He also confirmed support to the Riyadh Agreement and support to Yemen's unity, security and stability. — SPA
