JEDDAH — Princess Reema Bint Bandar, Saudi Arabia's ambassador to the United States, was elected a member of the International Olympic Committee on Friday. Princess Reema is among five new members whose names were approved at the 136th IOC session that was held online. The other four whose membership was approved are World Athletics President Sebastian Coe from the United Kingdom, ex-Croatian President Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović, Cuban Olympic Committee Board member Maria de la Caridad Colón Ruenes and Battushig Batbold, acting president of the Mongolian National Olympic Committee. With the election of new members, the number of IOC members has risen to 105. Commenting on her election as an IOC member, Princess Reema expressed her gratitude and appreciation to Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman and Crown Prince Muhammad for their unlimited support for the development of the sports sector. She also thanked Abdulaziz Bin Turki Al Faisal, the minister of sports and the president of the Saudi Olympic Committee. It has been an honor to serve my community through the universal language of sports, Princess Reema added.
