Published in The Saudi Gazette on 09 - 07 - 2020

JEDDAH — Obhur Bay in Jeddah is an enchanting destination, stretching 11-km along the east coast of the Red Sea. It is considered as the main sea tourism area and one of the favorite destinations for families and visitors to Jeddah, which is known as the "Bride of the Red Sea."
Obhur is famous as one of the best cluster of public and private beaches in the northern Corniche of the city, where the temperature is moderate, water is serene and the air is fresh and pure, that give feelings of comfort and relaxation for both families and individual picnickers.
Obhur Bay is among the leading seafronts in the Jeddah governorate. People prefer to visit and spend time there mainly during the spring and autumn seasons because the temperatures are mostly moderate all throughout day and night. During this period, a large number of vacationers, including citizens, expatriates and visitors flock to this region where they enjoy the beauty of soft silver sands, and privacy for practicing all sorts of marine sports such as swimming, diving, jet skis, and speedboats.
There are plenty of public and private resorts, hotels, and tourist rest houses along the beautiful coasts of Obhur. There are also all sorts of services and facilities along the beach, in addition to amusement parks and children's recreational games, in addition to kiosks that provide the needs of vacationers and their demands of consumables as well as requirements and tools for those outing in the sea.
Obhur is also characterized by its pristine sea waters, which makes it a tourist destination and an attraction for different age groups as they enjoy sitting on the shores of its beach and breathing fresh air. There are security men roaming about the beaches out of their keenness to ensure the safety of visitors and picnickers, giving them proper directives of dos and don'ts, especially to those who engage in adventures and take part in boat trips out to the sea and those who practice their skills with jet skis.
Water sports enthusiasts also go surfing in Obhur. This sport requires high skills and a lot of practice along with the knowledge of the sea and its features. It is a sport of riding waves in an upright or prone position and the surfers glide across the surface of the water until the wave breaks and lose its energy.
The Obhur Bay witnesses many sports competitions and events such as marathons organized by some government and private agencies in addition to boat races and jet skis. It is one of the most favorable destinations for both families and bachelors, especially youth, to spend free time and weekend days and enjoy along the sandy beaches in a calm and serene atmosphere.
