KUWAIT CITY — Kuwait registered 915 new coronavirus cases and two more deaths during the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of confirmed COVID-19 infections and fatalities in the country to 43,703 and 341 respectively, according to the country's health ministry.
Of the new infections, 492 are Kuwaiti citizens and 423 are expatriates from different countries, Dr. Abdullah Al-Sanad, the health ministry's official spokesman, said during a daily press briefing.
Earlier in the day, the ministry said that 602 more coronavirus patients have recovered, raisings the country's overall count of recoveries from the deadly disease to 33,969 so far.
In another development, ministries and government institutions have been instructed to follow all precautionary and preventive measures when they resume work on Tuesday (June 30).
They have been told to limit the use of papers as well as personal delivery of documents within or between the institutions and should use the government-to-government system — the electronic sharing of data and/or information systems between government agencies — for formal communication.
On Thursday, Kuwait decided to start the second phase to return to normal life, beginning on June 30 for three weeks. As part of the measure, the curfew hours will start from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m.
In the second phase, public and private sectors will resume work with less than 30 percent, in addition to the resumption of work in shopping malls, financial sector, construction sector, retail shops, parks, and pick-ups from restaurants and cafes.
