MUSCAT — Oman on Tuesday confirmed 1,318 new coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of confirmed COVID-19 infections in the Sultanate to 32,394, the country's Ministry of Health said in a statement carried by Oman News Agency. There has been a spike in the coronavirus cases in the Sultanate recently, with 1,605, the highest single-day infections, being reported on Monday. Of the newly detected cases, there are 853 Omani citizens and 465 expatriates from different countries, according to the Health Ministry's statement. The ministry also said three more patients succumbed to the deadly virus, taking the country's total number of fatalities resulting from COVID-19 to 140. Meanwhile, a total of 871 more people have completely recovered, raising the total number of recoveries to 17,279. There are 97 patients currently receiving treatment in intensive care units. The Ministry added that 3,940 addition COVID-19 tests were conducted in the past 24 hours. It also announced that out of a total number of 421 hospitalized patients, 97 of them are in intensive care units.
