JEDDAH — The Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA) has recently launched an app to support government efforts in tackling spread of coronavirus. The "Tabaud" application is a way to notify those who are in contact with infected people. The application sends camouflaged identifiers data to the smart phones using the same application, which were registered during the contact with infected people with coronavirus, It is accompanied by the data of the infected people devices, in accordance with the policies that the two international companies (Google and Apple) devised, while maintaining the full privacy of users. The application enables the users to receive direct and proactive notifications in case of detection of any registered infected person, for the purpose of requesting direct medical assistance from the Ministry of Health. According to the health system and its implementing regulations in Saudi Arabia, the Ministry of Health has approved health standards on which the "Tabaud" application has been developed. The characteristics and functions of the application will be subject to any additional instructions issued by Saudi authorities, in order to achieve the health and safety goals envisaged in developing the application by involving individuals to control the pandemic outbreak and gradually ease the restrictions on social and other activities.
