Team members of the Pakistan Welfare Society (PWS) held a free medical camp in the Pakistan House in Makkah recently. The medical camp, which was a long-standing demand of the Pakistani community in Makkah, will be run by doctors of PWS till it is handed over to local doctors for management, consultation and medicines. Both male and female doctors, including those from Umm-Al-Qurah hospital, voluntarily participated in the camp. Free medicines and laboratory checkups were provided to patients. Consul General Zaigham-Uddin Azam and Welfare Consular Choudhry Shoukat Ali present at the camp appreciated the effort. “PWC has created history by organizing free medical camps since two years in Jeddah, Taif and Madina where many Pakistani patients need help,” Zaigham-Uddin said. He said that similar camps will be organized in all 12 stations under the consulate, including Abha, Jizan, Najran and other remote small town areas across the Kingdom. He hoped that local doctors will be able to run the camp on their own so that the Consulate can extend its activities to far flung areas. Hafiz Mazhar Academy presented an award to PWC in acknowledgement of its services. “All doctors, members of the group and volunteers deserve appreciation to make this task possible,” said Shareef Zaman, president of PWC. He thanked the consul general and consulate staff for their support. __
