KUWAIT CITY — Kuwait registered 562 new coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of infections in the country to 29,921, the Kuwaiti news agency KUNA said on Thursday citing a statement from the country's health ministry. The latest count of infections showed a downward tilt of the coronavirus cases' curve that has recently exceeded the 1,000 cases' threshold, according to the Health Ministry's spokesman Dr. Abdullah Al Sanad. The ministry also announced six more deaths from COVID-19, bringing the total number of virus-related fatalities in the country to 236. All the new cases were in touch with previously infected people or are being investigated for sources of infection, the spokesman Al Sanad said during a daily press briefing. There are 184 patients receiving intensive care treatment, Al Sanad added. Meanwhile, a total of 1,473 more patients have recovered from the disease, raising the total number of recoveries to 17,223 in the country. The ministry said in a statement that laboratory tests showed that these patients have recovered from infection, adding that they would be shifted to the rehabilitation ward at hospital specialized for treating coronavirus cases, pending discharge in two days.
