RIYADH — There were more cases of coronavirus recoveries in the Kingdom than new infections, the ministry of health said on Saturday. The Kingdom recorded 1,618 new coronavirus cases during the last 24 hours, raising the total to 83,384, health ministry spokesman Dr. Muhammad Al-Abdel Ali was quoted by Saudi Press Agency (SPA) as saying. Despite an increase in numbers, an additional 1,870 recovered, leaving the country with more recoveries than infections. A total of 58,883 individuals have recovered so far. The ministry also said that 22 people who had previously tested positive for the virus have died, raising the relatively low death toll to 480, Dr. Al-Abdel Ali said. Riyadh continued to top the list with 679 cases. It was followed by 247 in Jeddah, 105 in Makkah, 101 in Hufof, 84 in Dammam, 64 in Al-Khobar, 45 in Madinah, 33 in Buraidah, 25 in Qatif and 24 in Dhahran. There were 14 new infections in Al-Madha, 13 in Taif, 12 each in Ras Tanura and Tabuk and 10 in Bukriah. The rest of the cases were scattered in different small cities and governorates across the Kingdom, Dr. Al-Abdel Ali said. The virus has so far infected 5,945,737 people globally and has killed 365,368. Meanwhile, 2,507,354 people have recovered so far.
