MUSCAT — Oman recorded 463 new coronavirus cases on Saturday, raising the total number of the confirmed cases in the Sultanate to 7,257, the Omani Ministry of Health said in a statement. Of the new cases, 210 are of Omani citizens and 253 are of different nationalities. The ministry also added that fully-recovered COVID-19 patients in the country have reached 1,848. The ministry on Friday announced the death of two residents from coronavirus aged 57 and 60 years. With this, the number of deaths registered in the Sultanate rose to 34. The first virus-related death was reported in Oman on April 4. Oman has taken a number of drastic preventive measures to contain the spread of coronavirus including, the suspension of the printing, distribution, and sale of all newspapers, magazines, and publications. It has also reduced the number of employees in public offices to 30 percent in order to ensure the smoothness of workflow and perform vital duties. The remaining 70 percent are working from home as decided by their employers.
