The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia intends to participate in “Great Silk Way: From Great Tradition to Modern Standards of Tourism and Cooperation International Forum” which is to be held in Almaty on Sep 2-4, director of the Department on Development of Cultural Heritage of Saudi Arabia's Supreme Agency for Tourism Dr. Ali Al-Anbar told a meeting with Kazakhstan Ambassador to the Kingdom Kairat Lama Sharif, MFA press service reported. Al-Anbar said the Great Silk Way that connected ancient civilizations of China, Central Asia and East with Europe for centuries should become today one of the most attractive tourist routes in the world. According to him, promotion of the modern tourism on this ancient road will provide an opportunity to get direct access to the global heritage of the peoples who lived and developed their rich culture along this great transcontinental road. Sharif noted that Kazakhstan was included in a program of the Great Silk Way development initiated three years ago under the UN aegis. The Great Silk Way as a tourist product has a number of peculiarities. This is a transnational route by which tourists will be able to visit several countries, acquaint with their past and present. Kazakhstan covers 1300km of the route.
