RIYADH — All grocery stores and supply shops in the Kingdom are required to provide electronic payment (e-payment) methods effective May 10, the National Program for Combating Commercial Cover-up (Tasattur) announced on Tuesday. Making it compulsory for grocery stores and supply shops to have means of e-payment available comes within the sphere of efforts to reduce circulation of cash, a Saudi Press Agency (SPA) report said. The decision, taken in consultation with the Saudi Arabian Monetary Authority, and the ministries of commerce, and municipal and rural affairs, is in line with the precautionary measures and procedures recommended by the competent health authorities to combat the new coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
